Have you seen our humidor? Be sure to check it out next time you are in the store. Our resident cigar “go to guy” is Kevin. He would be happy to help you select a cigar. Kevin is our guest author for this blog in which he talks about one of his most liked cigars, Hoyo De Monterrey Excalibur No. 1, which he enjoyed recently. Wachusett Wine and Spirits is pleased to offer this fine cigar and others to our customers.
“This past November, I had the chance to sit down and enjoy an old favorite cigar of mine, a Hoyo De Monterrey Excalibur No. 1. This cigar is composed of a Connecticut shade wrapper with a Hondruan binder plus Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. The start consisted of notes of earth with light pepper nuances and a slight hint of cocoa. When reaching the halfway point the white ash was still holding strong with a taste of leather and wood. I also noted a very smooth draw. The last quarter of the Excalibur No. 1 was when the ash finally split off and the flavor turned to cocoa and pepper once again. These flavors diminished quickly leaving a straight tobacco flavor backed by cream. The cigar held its construction well throughout and emitted large plumes of smoke. I would highly recommend this cigar to a beginner but I think it would also satisfy an intermediate smoker.”
